How to select brushes

See how to select brushes. SketchBook Motion comes with a library of brushes and two erasers. Use settings like SizeOpacity, and Color to customize your strokes.

Selecting a brush to draw

  1. In the toolbar at the bottom of the screen, tap Draw to access the library of brushes.
  2. Tap one from the list to select it:
    • Pencil
    • Pen
    • Marker
    • Airbrush
    • Paintbrush

Changing brush size

  1. Use the Size slider to resize your brush.
  2. With a brush selected, do either of the following:
    • Tap-drag the Size slider to the left to decrease the size of the stroke. This is great for when you need fine strokes for detailed work.
    • Tap-drag the Size slider to the right to increase the size of the stroke. This is super useful when needing broad strokes to cover a large area.

Don’t forget to use layers to layer effects and help you build up our image.

Changing brush opacity

  1. Use the Opacity slider to change the transparency of your brush.
  2. With a brush selected, do either of the following:
    • Tap-drag the Opacity slider to the left to make the stroke more transparent. This is great when creating sheer drapery in a scene.
    • Tap-drag the Opacity slider to the right to make the stroke more opaque. This is super useful when creating something solid-looking.

Selecting an eraser

  1. In the toolbar at the bottom of the screen, tap Erase to access the erasers.
  2. Select one of the following:
    • Hard Eraser for an eraser with a sharp/hard edge to completely remove content.
    • Soft Eraser for an eraser with a soft edge to lightly remove content, leaving some behind.
  3. Start tap-dragging on the canvas to erase content.

Changing eraser size

  1. Use the Size slider to set how large or small the eraser will be.
  2. With a eraser selected, do either of the following:
    • Tap-drag the Size slider to the left to decrease the size of the eraser. This is great for detailed work, when you need to be precise about the pixels you’re removing.
    • Tap-drag the Size slider to the right to increase the size of the eraser. This is super useful when needing to erase large areas of pixels.

Changing eraser opacity

  1. Use the Opacity slider to set how transparent or opaque the eraser will be.
  2. With a eraser selected, do either of the following:
    • Tap-drag the Opacity slider to the left to make the eraser more transparent. This is great when wanting to subtly remove part of the stroke.
    • Tap-drag the Opacity slider to the right to make the eraser more opaque. This is super useful wanting to remove all traces of the stroke.
