How to resize brushes

Change the size of a brush to make it smaller for adding detail or larger for quick coverage of a large area.

Resizing brushes in SketchBook for Desktop

There are a few ways to resize a brush. You can use the Brush Puck, double-tap a brush and change it’s properties, or use Brush Properties icon.

  1. In the Brush Palette, select the brush you want to resize.
  2. At the top of the Brush Palette, tap Brush Properties icon to access the Brush Properties window.
  3. Tap the Basic tab (if there are two tabs) and drag the Size slider.

Resizing brushes in SketchBook for Mobile

How to resize a brush is slightly different depending on the version you’re using and the platform you’re on. The fastest way is to use the sliders or Double Puck.

Resizing a brush using sliders

For SketchBook v.4.0 or above users, use the sliders.

  1. in the Brush Palette, tap any brush to select it. Sliders appear beside the palette for changing size or hardness/size and opacity or opacity/flow.
  2. Tap-drag them up or down. An on-screen display appears, indicating the new numeric values for the changed brush property.

Resizing a brush using Brush Settings

For SketchBook v.4.0 or above users, you can also change the size of your brush with Brush Settings.

  1. In the Brush Palette, tap Brush Editor icon in the iPad version of Autodesk SketchBook to open the Brush Library.
  2. In the Brush Library, select the brush you want to resize.
  3. Tap Settings to access Brush Properties.
  4. Tap the Basic tab (if there are two tabs) and drag the Size slider.

Resizing a brush on a handheld device

Double Puck for resizing a brush in SketchBook for MobileIf you are on a handheld device, use the Double Puck to resize your brush.

For 4.0 or above users, at the bottom of your canvas, tap Clutch tool in the mobile version of Autodesk SketchBook on iPad and select Double Puck icon in the toolbar in the mobile version of Autodesk SketchBook. The Double Puck appears. In the top section, tap-drag left or right to change the size of your brush.

For 3.7.4 or below users, at the bottom of your canvas, tap clutch. The Double Puck appears. In the top section, tap-drag left or right to change the size of your brush.

Resizing brushes in SketchBook for Windows 10

Switching between the Brush Puck and Brush PropertiesThere are a few ways to resize a brush. You can use the Brush Puck, double-tap a brush and change it’s properties, or use Open Brush Properties icon.

  1. In the Brush Puck, tap Open Brush Properties icon to switch the Brush Puck to Brush Properties or in the Brush Palette, double-tap a brush to access the Brush Properties window.
  2. Tap the Basic tab (if there are two tabs) and drag the Size slider.
