How to invert a selection

Wondering how to use Invert? Say you have a large area to select, using it can save you time and make it easier to make your selection. Just select the smaller area and tap Invert selection icon to change what is selected. This is useful in combination with Add To icon in the Windows 10 version of Autodesk SketchBook and Remove icon from the Selection tools in the Windows 10 version of Autodesk SketchBook, especially when doing a fill. Tap Tap this to exit the Selection mode in the Windows 10 version of Autodesk SketchBook to accept the changes and exit the tool.

Inverting a selection in SketchBook for Desktop

  1. In the toolbar, tap Select to access an assortment of Selection tools.

  2. Once a selection is made, tap Invert Invert.
  3. Tap Deselect Deselect at the end of the Selection toolbar to modify your selection.

Inverting a selection in SketchBook for Mobile

SketchBook v.4.0 or above users

The device you have determines the UI you will see. Follow the instructions for the device you have:

If you are on a hand-held device:

  1. In the toolbar, tap Tools icon in the mobile version of SketchBook, then  and select a tool from the Selection toolbar.

  2. Tap Invert icon Invert to switch the selection. The current unselected content will become the selection, once you’ve tapped Invert. Use this when it’s easier to select what you don’t want.

If you are on a tablet:

  1. In the toolbar, tap  and select a tool from the Selection toolbar.

  2. Tap Invert icon Invert to switch the selection. The current unselected content will become the selection, once you’ve tapped Invert. Use this when it’s easier to select what you don’t want.

SketchBook v.3.7.4 or below users

  1. Tap Tools icon in the mobile version of SketchBook, then Lasso selection in the mobile version of SketchBook. A secondary toolbar appears below containing your selection options. Select a Selection tool.

  2. Another toolbar appears above the Selection tools, containing additional selection options.
  3. Tap Invert icon Invert to switch the selection. The current unselected content will become the selection, once you’ve tapped Invert. Use this when it’s easier to select what you don’t want.

Inverting a selection in SketchBook for Windows 10

  1. Once you’ve made a selection, using , tap Invert selection icon Invert to change what is selected.

    This is useful in combination with Add To icon in the Windows 10 version of Autodesk SketchBook and Remove icon from the Selection tools in the Windows 10 version of Autodesk SketchBook, especially when doing a fill.
